Today was interesting, I continued reviewing and revising the policy and procedure handbook. I looked in to revising the health practitioner credentialing review steps for MEND. A lot of work, but great knowledge earned.

3rd Visit April 5, 2012

I had a great experience today at MEND, Victor Estrada the Medical Clinic Manager provided me with an office in which I helped revise many pages in the Policy and Procedure Handbook up to date. This gave me the opportunity to freely go through the Policy and Procedure Handbook to see how all the services provided work with the laws and regulations. It also gave me a great insight on the organization of non-profit entities.

2nd Visit March 29, 2012

After serving food in the kitchen, I decided that my second day should be more administrative related. So I decided to go up to the second floor to the Medical Clinic. Here I collaborated with a former colleague Victor Estrada the Medical Clinic Manager that set me up to be in a board meeting with the Quality Assurance board. Here I experienced real life quality measures and expert opinions on how quality must be meet in the clinic and what the organization is striving to do to improve some of these quality measures. I really enjoyed sitting in a room with great minds winding experiences and opinions together to form abstracts to improve and enhance quality at MEND.

First Day MEND 3/20/12

Yesterday was the first day of my Service Learning Opportunity, and I had a wonderful experience.I started of by introducing myself to Richard who is the supervising manager for the food distribution center.
He directed my services to the kitchen which at that time was serving lunch. I  started off serving lunch in trays to the people standing in line. This gave me the opportunity to see actual poverty first hand, the look and reaction of the people we were serving food to was indescribable. I had not idea that in a country as superior as the US we had issues of poverty among our communities. It was nice to experience and get a feel of what communities face in terms of poverty. It defiantly provided me with great insight on the appreciation of food and why it is important to donate and help those in need.

First Post =)

Hello people of this world I am George G. Srapyan and I will be Volunteering at MEND this Spring to fulfill my Service Learning Requirement.

I had done a project at MEND my Freshman year at CSUN, I have attached the video of the project in this post for your pleasure viewing.

Tomorrow will be my first day back, I had a really great experience two year ago(as you can see above).
I know for a fact that this time around it will be just as rewarding.

I will let you know how they are with my next few posts.
